Making of a TV Commercial(s)

Last summer, we had the opportunity to roll out our new Sony F3 video camera for a series of TV ads. The camera allowed us to capture beautiful HD footage in 1080. The first time I saw the footage on television it looked to almost have a 3D type effect to it, since the quality was so crisp, yet still with a softness to pull on the emotional strings of viewers.

Online Ad Spending to exceed Newspaper/Magazine ad spending

I don’t think this comes as a shocker to anyone, but 2012 is the year that Online Ad spending will exceed Newspaper/Magazine ad spending according to a report from eMarketer.  Last year online ad spending was a little over $32 billion which was a 23% increase from 2010.  This year online ad spending is being [...]

Preferred Calling???

Last month, my wife and I are out for dinner at Swordfish in Batavia.  Quick side note, very cool decor and great sushi.  Anyways at about 730pm my cell phone rings and I glance at the caller ID.  I don’t recognize the number, plus I’m on a date with my wife and she’s a 3rd degree [...]

Pin It to Win It?

Yes I just titled this blog “Pin It to Win It”.  Not one of my favorite titles and the reference really has nothing to do with that awful show with the host with really bad hair. Anyways, it seems that the next “big” social media is here, Pinterest.  Well, it’s actually been around for a [...]

Ryan Will Really Rant

Okay, I’ve been procrastinating enough with my blogging, and I’ve passed the buck enough times in the past year.  So, I’m making a commitment to blog this year, 52 times!  Yes I will blog once per week, and if I don’t and you catch me you may win a prize.  What prize may that [...]

Guest Blogger Chris Plummer and his new toy!

Will this camera make us cooler?

In short, yes. Which camera, you may ask? I’m talking about the newest camera in the Morningstar arsenal, the Sony F3, or the Sony PMW-F3L Super 35mm Full-HD CineAlta, to be exact. Ok, well it might not make us cooler, but it makes our clients look cooler; which I guess makes us cooler by association.

An 815 in the 415

A hop, skip and a jump and I was on my way to SES San Francisco 2011.

I arrived hungry. I was hungry for sushi, and hungry to embark on a week of pure geekology. I had spent the last few months taking online courses, following blogs, online forums and other search engine optimization (SEO) gurus in order to consume as much as I possibly could of what search and social marketing had to offer all that we do here at MorningStar Media Group.

Dan Goes To WordCamp San Francisco 2011

Incredibly intelligent, fantastically creative, and ridiculously open-armed, that is WordPress and its community. I recently attended WordCamp San Francisco and was exposed to this unique group of people.

WordPress is an open source blogging tool that is quickly making its way into the CMS world. One could argue that it already has:

FACT: “92% of WordPress users are using WordPress as a CMS”

FACT: “Of every 100 domains created in the U.S., 22 of them are running WordPress”

FACT: “WordPress is now being used by 14.7% of all websites in the world”

Silent Bob Speaks

I have certain people that I admire in the film/web industry and Kevin Smith is one of them.  Kevin Smith is a Director/Writer of various films.  Back in the early 90′s (I can’t believe that’s 20 years now), Smith wrote and directed a film called Clerks.  He paid for the movie largely out of his [...]
